South Waziristan operation was a compulsion: COAS

WANA: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvezy Kayani said Monday that the army was compelled to conduct an operation against militants in South Waziristan.

General Kayani who was visiting South Waziristan said that the no army wanted to fight within its own borders. “The army is concentrating on health and education facilities,” Kayani said.

According to sources, General Kayani inaugurated the Cadet College in South Waziristan following which he met with tribal elders and discussed development and public welfare projects.

COAS Kayani assured the tribal elders of the complete support of the Pakistan army. During a news briefing General Kayani said that with the help of the army 124 welfare projects had been set up in FATA and Malakand.  - Geo TV
